Mental health

All young people may experience mental health challenges from time to time. This is often bought on by stress, health issues, relationship difficulties, negative life experiences etc.

Young people may experience stress, low mood and anxiety due to things such as exams, developing their identity, self-esteem and independence or due to managing their diabetes.

These challenges may continue into adulthood and you may need support to manage these changes and to develop healthy coping strategies….

If you are worried about your mental health, or if diabetes is having an impact on your general wellbeing, we really want to help support you to get through this, and we’ll be happy to discuss or make referrals to our team psychotherapist , or offer help to the people who support you, whatever you prefer.

Changing your support team at a time when many other things are changing can be stressful.

The important thing is to find the right help from the right people. If you want help once you  get towards adulthood, we can introduce you to the person who offers psychological support  to adults with diabetes.

Schools and colleges can be an helpful resource to talk to, also other therapeutic organisations. A list can be found on the website.
